Have you ever laid in bed awake at night wondering why certain things have happened to you? Do you ever wish that you could turn back the clock and strategically and deftly arrange your life’s moments and movements as if you were moving chess pieces on a chess board? If so, I can totally relate. I have laid in bed at night, wishing and wondering, stressing and hoping. And do you know what? I have come to realize that the saying that “nothing changes if nothing changes” is really true. Nothing changes if I focus on staying angry about the past. Nothing changes if I fail to realize that my past experiences can be used as learning lessons about what to do and what not to do in the future.
Are you struggling with owning your own journey? If so, you are not alone. I think that many people turn to alcohol, substances, and repetitive bad habits because they are seeking forms of escapism, a form of help with temporarily having to avoid thinking about past disappointments and problems. The problem with temporary forms of escapism is that they are just that; temporary. I have recently decided to embrace the entire journey that I have lived, even the life moments that I wish that I could rewind and change. Your past can help you to realize how much you have changed and it can also help you to figure out what you want to change for the future. Use your past fears and failures to fuel your future missions.
Each person on the planet has his or her own unique destiny, but one thing that we all have in common is that we are meant to grow. However, personal growth needs to be a deliberate choice. People who refuse to expand their minds, perceptions, and abilities will see little if any change in their lives. People who crave growth are really craving a desire and need to change. When you know deep within yourself that you are called to do something very specific, you may not understand why you’re feeling that way. But rest assured, all will be revealed once you commit to the calling that you feel, and you run the race that only you can run. You are equipped to acquire the tools that you need to become the person who you are meant to become.
The world needs you to step up and step into the position that you need to be in to live your best life. We all contribute to this world in some way. When you become someone else’s mentor, student, customer, friend, and helper, you are helping someone else to fulfill their purpose. Please don’t shrink, and please don’t hold back from fulfilling your unique destiny and purpose! Your journey may not make sense to you, but it is your job and duty to find a way to make sense of the lessons that you have learned and use those lessons to grow into an evolved and enlightened person. Own your journey and make things happen that you will be proud of for many years to come. Start with small steps. Achieving small goals will give you the confidence to believe that you can eventually complete larger goals. Accepting what you have been through and owning your journey is the first step. Then, think about what you have learned, and look for examples of how much you have grown. Next, determine your goals and take small steps to make your goals happen. You CAN do it.
